On 20th early morning, I lost my schoolmate and friend , Harshan. He lost his life in an encounter with terrorists in Jammu Kashmir.
News Report
This year is the 10th anniversary of us passing out of our alma matter , Sainik School Kazhakootam . We never thought we'll lose anyone amongst us, when we meet for the OBA ( Old Boys Association ) day this year , but God had different plans.A lot of our batchmates came down to Trivandrum , to bid the final fairwell to our buddy.
With tearful eyes and mourning heart, we give you the final salute Harshan. We'll miss your mis-adventures , we'll miss your jokes and we'll surely miss you pulling Unni's legs in our get-togethers
I can write a lot about Captain Harshan, but let it not be today.Harshan used to visit my site , and he would not like to see anything written about him in an emotional state of mind. He was a strong guy, driven by passion and determination , but still carried a flavour of humility and humour sense.
I wanted to write something about our school days, but hands are not as fast as the viscous thoughts thats flooding my mind. I dug up a poem that Anish Mathew wrote in a pensive mood , for our batch , long back . If you are not a Sai-Kazhak half of it may not make any sense for you. Still here I go...
"gone are the breakfasts where we hoped there will be butter with the bread served
but were still happy if we found a pinkish mix of jam and butter
gone are the lunches when we waited for the bell to ring so that we can run to the barber shop
but were still happy if we emerged with painful cuts after two hours of sweating queues!
gone are the dinners when we hoped NGB Sir wouldn't come to claim his poori-beef
but were still happy if he didnt feel like eating all the poori's in his plate!
gone are the nights when we were ready to walk over hills braving guards and dogs to go to thattukada's
but were still happy even if we could only get some crappy dosas!
gone are the journeys when we hoped for 20 rupees food allowance for a 200 km journey..
but were still happy even if we got only 15 rupees!
gone are the movies where we hoped to see some female flesh and begged the operator not to cut them
but were still happy if we could see the scene just before and just after the "scene"!
gone are the days when we hoped we will break our leg/hand to get admitted in the MI Room
but were still happy if the compounder was absent so we could fake a loosemotion!
