KMail : Could not create folder $HOME/Mail

Kmail exits with a popup

"Could not create folder $HOME/Mail"

This happened after I switched between different KDE versions .

To resolve this

  • Open ~/.kde/share/config/kmailrc
  • Remove the line : folder=$HOME/Mail
or replace $HOME with the path to your home directory
  • Restart kmail

This solution was tested on Redhat Fedora Core 3 . The path to kmailrc will depend upon the distro that you are using. Hope that helps.
