"A fall from the third floor hurts as much as a fall from the hundredth. If I have to fall, may it be from a high place. "
--Paulo Coelho, By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept

I love to dream ... and dreams are my way of expressing myself. Had it not been for the dreams , I would have gone into a cocoon long back . It's the dreams and the ability to dream that made humans the humans. But sadly, some people stray away from their dreams. They copy what others does or are contend with paths that millions of others trudged. They feel , that security in life comes by following others.

My friend once put his life in plain text .
"Life for me is simple . You study till 10+2 , then you've 2 options , MBBS or BTech. Majority like me , get into BTech and then get a high salaried job in a computer related firm preferably in Banglore . Period . Its like a system, with a set of input and expected output. "
Anyone trying different from the above system is called a fool, useless or failure. Even the parents of such kids get perplexed when there is a breakage in system. They get scared of I-don't-know-what.

"You won't get much salary here , why don't you find another company?"

This is a common question asked to many of the engineers of my generation . The question could come from one's parents , or relatives or even long lost friends. Money and the availability of it , differentiate success and failures.

Is money that's all needed ?

Money is required , to sustain yourself and your dependants . But that's not all that's needed . If you want happiness , you should live for your dreams. And for that you need to identify your dreams. Once identified , let it never be tied down by the constrains or fears.

"There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure"
-- Paulo Coelho ,The Alchemist

The fear of failure, prevents one from listening to his heart. He prefers to go after already trodden paths , so that his life would be safe . Yes , there would be no risk and hardly any hurdles ... but what good is life when there is nothing in it by you, for you. When you start following your heart , you start enjoying what you do . You start loving the job you have, you start believing in yourself and also enjoy the world around you.

"If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as
Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry.
He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say,
here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well"
--- Martin Luther King Jr.

All the succesful men are those who went after their dreams . Listen to them , to get inspired .

That doesn't mean that you've to do whatever they did or said. Get inspired to follow your dreams. As told by Roosevelt

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams".

We had a “Be the CEO” for 5 minutes contest , for the “Could-be” CEOs of Poornam. Senior 20 people of Poornam came together and presented their plans to accelerate the growth of the company. That was when Vishnuram , with whom I hardly talked before the event , recited this beautiful poem as an introduction to his presentation.

Dare To Dream
------------
Build Castles in the air .
But first , give them foundations
Hold fast to all your dreams,
Make perfect your creations.

All glory comes to those who dare..
Failed works are sad lame things ..
Act impeccably ,
Sing your own song , but do not take
Another's song from her or him;

Look for your art within,
You'll find your own true gift,
For you are special too.
And if you try, you'll find
There's nothing you can't do .
----------------

So ... friends ...Hold fast to all your dreams ...
